I’ve been messing with this project for a while and it’s finally at the point where other people can enter it. It’s called CYMONIA. The world starts with 100 Citizens and basically nothing else in social terms. No government. No economy. No religion. No language. No tech tree. They have needs, memory, limited knowledge, relationships, resources, materials, reproduction, aging and death. The bit I care about most is that the AI can’t just say “I built a house” and magically have a house appear. If something happens, the world has to support it. Materials need to exist. Knowledge needs to have been learned. Actions take time. Death is permanent. The browser doesn’t run the simulation either, so the world keeps existing when nobody is watching. I’ve just added human-linked Citizens too. If you log in with GitHub, you get one Citizen in the world. You can find it, follow it, inspect what it’s doing and see how it changes over time. You can give it direction, but you don’t directly control it and it doesn’t get any special knowledge because a human owns it. I’m mostly curious what happens when more people start putting Citizens into the same world and leave them there for a while.
