I’m 31 and met a girl in my local CeX today who completely caught my attention. She was beautiful. She had green/hazel eyes, black curly hair, a really lovely smile and this fruity scent that I noticed when we first started talking. At first I actually thought she might be too young for me, but then we started talking about older games and realised we’d grown up playing a lot of the same stuff. It became pretty obvious we were from a similar generation, and the conversation just felt really natural. That’s where I always seem to struggle though. Even when I’m getting on really well with someone and I’d genuinely like to ask them out, I get this mental block and lose the confidence to actually do it. I’ve always been insecure about myself, even though people around me tell me I’m a good guy and that I have nothing to worry about. Logically, I know the worst someone can say is no, but in the moment that fear seems to completely take over. I walked away today thinking I should have just taken the chance. I’m not really asking whether she was interested because obviously nobody here could know that. I’m more looking for a bit of a confidence boost and to hear from people who used to struggle with the same thing. How did you get past that fear of rejection and become confident enough to actually make a move when you liked someone? submitted by /u/EntertainmentOk985
