Figure has somehow managed to turn “robot folds towels and tidies a room” into an annual product release. I don’t understand how people keep jumping from this to “general-purpose home robot” when the thing is still failing ~44% of full-task trials on the three tasks it was specifically trained to do. Like where is the actual task-level generalization? Have it clear a dinner table, put groceries away, find someone’s shoes and bring them over, move a chair and vacuum underneath it, clean up after someone cooking… anything. When are we going to see it get some random household task that wasn’t explicitly turned into a trained behavior and actually figure it out? It’s just the same demos over and over again. Dishwasher. Laundry. Towels. Toys. Tidy the bedroom. Make the bed. The “30 unseen Bay Area homes” thing killed me. Every house looks like it comes with a complimentary Patagonia vest… less architectural diversity than a McDonald’s. Nothing on the floor, giant unobstructed walking spaces, spotless surfaces, everything conveniently sitting exactly where the task is happening. It’s been YEARS. Put this thing in a house where someone actually lives. Then Brett Adcock holds up a pillow and goes, “It’s never seen this pillow before.” Brother, it’s a fucking generic white-ass pillow.
