This is going to sound so stupid. But genuinely, I’d be grateful to hear responses to help me decode what my husband might mean. Yes, I’m going to ask him directly but that’s not possible at the moment and my head is spinning because literally I don’t understand. What does “respect” mean to you as a man? Especially as a married man or at least one in a long term relationship. If you felt you “married someone with no respect for [you]” what would that look like? And the opposite too, if your wife does respect you, what does that look like? How does she show you that she respects you and your feelings (especially if you’re quiet/stoic generally avoid sharing feelings in the first place) and how hard you work? I genuinely do respect my husband, or I wouldn’t be with him, but apparently I’m not showing it properly or something so I’d love to understand how to change that if any of you can explain. Literally anything you think might help explain would be helpful no matter how small of an example. I may add more context as answers come in but not sure what is relevant at this moment.
