i’ve been using gpt x5 for about 6 months, but recently the limits started feeling a bit questionable. i ran out of my weekly limit and banked reset, and ended up having to wait 5 days for the next reset. so i decided to buy claude x5 as well just to keep working. honestly, i didn’t have a great impression of claude before. about a year ago i tried the $20 plan and somehow burned through the 5-hour quota after only a few questions on the web version. so this time i treated it as another experiment to see if my opinion had changed. after 2–3 days of using opus 5 high almost all the time, a few things definitely changed my mind. pros i was a bit worried about the 5-hour limit at first, but in real use it’s actually not that bad. i only managed to hit 100% when i had 3 projects running at the same time. for my normal workload, it feels pretty reasonable. the weekly usage also seems to drain quite slowly. compared with normal usage on gpt sol high/xhigh, i’d say it feels somewhat similar. gpt’s banked reset, though, honestly feels more like a $20 plus plan to me. one interesting thing: it looks like the reset time might be fixed across accounts? i bought the plan on thursday, but my reset is on monday. with gpt, i thought it was basically +7 days from when you subscribe. now i only have 2 days left to burn the remaining 60% lol :'D response speed is consistently good. with sol high/xhigh, sometimes it’s fast and sometimes it gets really slow. my guess is gpt has been dealing with compute pressure lately. right now, chatting with claude feels much more responsive. cons no image generation tool. for tasks where i need to generate an image and immediately use it in the workflow, claude just can’t do it. for my use case this is a pretty big limitation. i’ve already had cases where i had to ask claude for the prompt, move over to gpt to generate the image, then go back and tell claude to use that image. very annoying. claude can create some visuals through code, which is fine, but obviously that only works for simpler things. chrome control is also much weaker. it can’t control my existing tabs and always has to create a new group. sometimes when it needs to change the viewport of one tab, the whole browser gets affected, which is pretty inconvenient. i asked why it can’t control an existing tab and it basically said it’s not allowed. maybe it’s more privacy-focused? i also ran into cases where it couldn’t interact with an iframe inside a page. compared with gpt here, it feels several levels behind. overall, this experience definitely changed my old opinion of claude. i’m probably going to keep both and use them for different kinds of work instead of trying to replace one with the other. this is only based on 2–3 days of usage, so if i misunderstood anything or there’s a better way to use claude, please correct me. i’d genuinely like to learn how to use it better. submitted by /u/spideyguyy
