Just signed up for Claude Max 20x, had no choice. I am a Codex user and ran out and they aren’t resetting or allowing new subscriptions. I have some very specific/important questions so please no mindless bashing about Claude or Codex, this is real. Money is a major factor as well, so that is why I cannot burn so quickly now. Should I use Opus or Fable? If you are unfamiliar with Codex, the lower tier 5.6 models are not as good since Astra came out. Is it the same with Claude? Should I stay away from Opus since Fable came out? Recently I burned my Codex usage too quickly, since I was part of the bait and switch tactics. Burned my resets too, from using models that were too advanced than I needed, with fast mode. I knew it was too much, but with all the resets I just went hardcore. This week I adjusted it down to Astra-High (no fast mode) and it can give me roughly 30(ish) hours of running with a 20x pro plan. This is a specific type of task, with no sub-agents. I am okay with that for this task, and want to keep it at this level since it gives me the results I need for this task, with a burn rate I am happy with. Let’s say I wanted “really good” results with Claude, doesn’t have to be Fable-Max quality, but also be able to chug along without running out of usage too quickly. LASTLY… for this task, I have 1 iOS simulator and 1 android emulator open at the same time, and the agent is checking/working on those and cross referencing as it moves through the same features on both devices. This was part of the 30(ish) hour run with Codex Astra-High (normal speed). As a seasoned Claude Max user, what would you choose for that? Opus-Extra? Fable-High? submitted by /u/MapleBaconWaffles
