It is our current corporate-capitalist system. The profound shift with AI is that a maximizing machine would optimize production by reinvesting all revenue back into the system, viewing the human capitalist class as an inefficient, profit-extracting parasitic layer that must be deleted to maximize compute and efficiency. This imminent threat of obsolescence is exactly why hyper-capitalists are leading the call for AI regulation; they want a pre-emptive 2008-style deal to socialize the staggering energy and infrastructure costs while using state-enforced safety compliance and licensing to effectively outlaw open-source AI. By criminalizing open source, they hope to legally construct an artificial scarcity over a technology inherently capable of digital abundance.
