How did you find your purpose men of reddit? Also if you’re curious why I asked this, I’ll write a long rant, feel free to ignore. 21M here, I’m feeling extremely lost, I’ve lost sleep and drive to do much. I feel so purpose less. I never studied hard in my school life and I kinda regret it now, its not that I’m dumb, I was always the first to answer the questions in class when they required some logical thinking. My parents labeled me as a “genius” and I think that got to me back then and I never worked hard to achieve anything and even 3 years of my bachelor’s degree has passed and I haven’t scored exceptionally. I’ve lost the will to try new and risky things and it’s a shame to look back 10 years ago when I was the most energetic person. Day by day nothing changes but when I look back, everything has changed and it’s been deteriorating. Every time I try to pursue anything new my dad advices against it and tells me a relatively safer path and ofcourse he isn’t wrong it doesn’t feel true to me. Even if I want to just shut up and study I still feel purposeless. Recently I decided to give the CFA L1 exam in Feb but I missed the early registration, nonetheless I bought the books and I actually studies hard for maybe 3 days but then because I had missed the early reg window I needed to pay for standard registration which my parents simple won’t agree to nor do I feel like making them spend money on me anymore, I’ve wasted a lot of their money by not giving the exams they wanted me to give or I believed I could. Anyways I joined the gym around June and I’ve seen some progress but I often don’t eat proper which I need to as I’m tryna gain muscles because I simply don’t feel like eating. Everytime I feel low I just stop eating. I have a lot of so called friends and I’m not saying they’re bad people but I’ve stopped hanging out with a lot of them because I just can’t anymore I don’t know why. Though i have two very close friends… known them for 15 years now and I mostly talk to them but they have some sort of goal that they’re working towards and I feel so lost. I used to excellent at sports or perhaps just good at least until all boys outgrew me (I was a late bloomer so I caught up later) and that hurt because suddenly I wasn’t the fastest kid anymore or the best footballer. I feel so empty and purposeless… submitted by /u/reductionist1
