Curious if anyone lands on the optimistic side of the equation regarding artificial intelligence and our future with it? I have been spiralling pretty hard on this topic as of late, and tbh, I actually find it almost impossible to see how we aren’t just completely doomed. Maybe if there was a responsible or even half-way normal individual in the white house, I might have a bit of hope that there was even a fighting chance of humanity coming out the other side here… but as it stands, I just can’t see it. basically every single even marginally intelligent person or public intellectual that i’ve seen over the past few months are all saying in unison, " this is do or die… game time " and our leadership is, and most likely will never not be, completely unwilling to accept or engage with that prospect. I would say it’s heartening that the dems might take office in 2029… but in AI years… thats just too late, as I understand. submitted by /u/conn_r2112
