I’m giving using ai to assist with coding a try and while it can be extremely impressive at times, it feels like it constantly wants me to run commands in my terminal and paste them as a message. It’s always asking me to run commands to see x line through y line and paste the results to it as a message rather than just asking for the actual files and analyzing them once and referencing the file itself. I was working on a script earlier and was having ai help me figure out an error I was getting. I gave it the original unmodified file as well as my own file for reference. It helped me fix my problem almost immediately. A little while later however, I just started asking it questions about another project I wanted to work on, only this time I hadn’t shared any files with it. It probably asked me 30-40 times to run a command in my terminal and paste it back, usually asking me to search a single file for specific lines so it could see what was there. I went along with it to see how much longer it would take. I’m currently still in the middle of fixing that issue because chatgpt maxed out my free message limit for the next 2-3 hours (something I forgot happens) to try and push premium onto me In the future I’ll be insisting on sharing files with it, but I really kind of expected it to eventually request the files.
