Frontier - agent swarms hacking companies and doing biotech and research at OpenAI and Anthropic. Business - a meeting that I literally had yesterday ‘‘we need to create copilot agents to help us in daily work’’, then sb presenting the simplest of things like using Copilot template ‘‘agent’’ and simple prompt to go through some documents and summarize findings. It kinda reminds me ‘‘paperless office’’ thing which is still not the case in at least some areas… or many areas. My mom works at a place (family doctor practice) where they have all the records stored digitally but actually take physical files of patients, and write down the info from the digital file there, because it is how they have always done it for decades. So on one hand sb can pat them on the back that the grannies are now fully digital, but they are doing same work twice, essentially wasting time and then complaining they lack time to do the job… What I wanted to say is that, if we do not see the benefit from AI in large part of economy yet, it is not the case that there is no benefit or very little benefit. It is the same thing as once with computer age or cloud etc. First, at the moment it is probably still too expensive to use AI for everything, secondly… could be that for many tasks hallucination rate can still be an issue (even though it has been reined in significantly), thirdly a cultural thing combined with first two factors, that people distrust the new thing (as previously we did not trust anything saved in what we now call ‘‘cloud’’, although today for better or worse everything is stored there). By 2007 youtube was already ‘‘usable’’ for streaming content and theoretically making money off it, but it still took some time for bigger channels to make money off it and youtube itself became profitable maybe by 2011-2012. And I recall back then people saying that youtube/streaming in general will not be a significant competitor to ‘‘legacy’’ TV due to quality issues (specially with live broadcasts when tons of people watch at the same time) and that it needs people to be more tech savvy.
