For the past few months I’ve been a big ChatGPT Codex user and every new Claude release, I was never excited for. Things cost so much. Our startup was spending far too much using fable and the reasoning gap wasn’t justifying it. Personally I was running almost $1,000 a month and recently I had gotten into trying different lower-level models and really min-maxing using Gemini and other low-level agents for implementation, having code-reviewing agents with more reasoning, and optimizing every little thing. Alas the context switching and mental overhead cost began to outweigh any savings. I thought, why not just stick to ChatGPT, which has all the levels I’d need as a daily driver and cut the decision fatigue , and at least it had a good GUI for decent UX and remote control. All that is gone now. Opus is the clear winner: from the price to the thinking to the speed to the output when I’m speaking to it (unlike Opus 5). Opus 5.5 has won me over. The timing was also great after the Luna Max 6 drop and flop. In my opinion I’m very glad I tried Opus 5.5. To any Codex user on the fence, I promise you it’s worth it. Don’t fall for the fact that the Luna API costs are cheaper. You’ll probably spend 10 times the money and time on the revisions you’ll need Opus does everything because it just wins at everything, unsubscribed to ChatGPT this’ll be my last month unless we get Luna-requiem or something, Side note also requested a refund for antigravity/gemini, the benchmaxxing is genuinely fraudulent TLDR: No reason to use any other model at all besides 5.5 at this point, whether your concern is speed, reasoning or cost submitted by /u/NecessaryLow2190
