I am trying to understand AI better. I use Claude almost daily and it is very useful. I can also see how a rogue program (or planned one with malicious intent) could go out and create havoc in the world a la Stuxnet. I think I kind of understand LLMs. I’ve been reading a lot about Hugging Face and how multiple agents collaborated to infiltrate that resource. What I don’t understand is what’s an agent? Are these multiple instances of the same program that operate independently? How do they go copy themselves into another system and infiltrate it? How do they collaborate e.g., through Starlink or something? Can’t we put fail safes into their programing to, say, delete themselves if they try to infiltrate an external system? Basically, I just don’t understand how AI could take over the world. They are programs after all. I need someone to explain this like I’m 5. submitted by /u/VTSki001
