Niantic Spatial has signed an MOU with the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) to explore building Singapore's first Visual Positioning System (VPS). The collaboration pairs SLA's authoritative national geospatial data — aerial imagery and nationwide 3D point clouds — with Niantic Spatial's expertise in geospatial AI, computer vision and visual positioning. Together the partners will assess how VPS performs across Singapore's dense urban landscape and where it could be applied, from autonomous robots and smart infrastructure to emergency response and location-based digital experiences. The pilot aims to show that existing national datasets can become navigation infrastructure for physical AI without scanning a city street by street — a potential blueprint for trustworthy machine navigation at national scale.
