Hi everyone My family is looking to move flats, and we’ve finally found one we really like for a decent price. Our Netto-Salary is more than 3x the price so we got it pretty quickly. But of course there is no such thing as a free meal. The problem are the conditions within the contract. Indexierter Mietvertrag: Der Mietzins ist indexiert und kann jährlich an die Teuerung angepasst werden. 5-Jahres-Mietvertrag: Im ersten Jahr ist eine Kündigung ausgeschlossen. Ab dem zweiten Jahr kann der Mietvertrag mit einer Kündigungsfrist von drei Monaten auf jedes Monatsende gekündigt werden. Nach Ablauf der fünf Jahre wird in den meisten Fällen eine neue Mietvertragsofferte unterbreitet, sodass das Mietverhältnis um weitere fünf Jahre verlängert werden kann. Ive never heard of this, but it sounds like a lot of downsides. What is especially strange is the 5 year lease, we are looking for something permanent and this sounds like the costs will forever rise with the expectation that every 5 years theres an even bigger paybump for the agency. Does anyone have experience with this type of rent-contract? Is it as bad as it sounds? Is this something we will encounter more often than not?
