That number comes from Challenger, a company that tracks layoff announcements. It counts jobs companies said they cut because of AI. It doesn’t check whether AI took over that work. Block said it was cutting more than 4,000 jobs and that intelligence tools could help smaller teams do more. Its stock rose nearly 18% the next day. I guess that’s productivity if you’re measuring the stock instead of the work. What can those tools do now that those 4,000 people did before? submitted by /u/imrsn
