Hi all. From around 2004–2007, I played RuneScape pretty regularly, mainly with my childhood friend. I’d go round his house and we’d sit on two computers playing together. I was never particularly good, never had a Members account and honestly didn’t really understand what I was doing half the time lol but I absolutely loved it. My friend, on the other hand, carried on playing for years and still plays to this day, with various maxed accounts etc. For some reason, RuneScape has really stuck with me. The music, the aesthetic, the world, the feeling of logging in… there’s a massive nostalgia attached to it for me. Over the years I’ve tried coming back to it a few times, but I always end up feeling completely overwhelmed. There’s so much to the game now and such a huge skill ceiling that I have absolutely no idea where to start. I usually just log in, wander around the handful of places I remember from 20 years ago, get nostalgic, and then log off So my question is: Should I just leave RuneScape as a nice 20-year-old memory, or should I actually give it another proper go? And if I should give it a go, how the hell do I actually get started as a returning player who basically knows nothing? I don’t have loads of free time these days, although I can AFK at work… I’d genuinely love to hear from people who came back after a really long break.
