Hi, So I learned two days ago I will need an urgent surgery for a very recent cancer diagnosis. After the surgery, I will need at least two weeks to recover and won’t be able to walk much, and my job requires a lot of walking. I shares it with HR yesterday immediately after I got the news and today I got an email that they’re terminating my contract. My apartment is tied to the job and so I will have to move out soon too. Likely while I’m still recovering. I moved to Switzerland from another EU country just a month ago. I need to stay here to continue the treatment. In my home country there are very few specialists who know how to deal with it as it’s a very rare type. I read that I could maybe be eligible for Sozialhilfe if I’m fired due to temporary incapacity to work. I sent them an email confirming what I shared about the surgery on the phone to have it in writing so I can prove they fired me after learning about this. I will of course start looking for another job immediately as well. What are my options? EDIT: I’m in probation period. submitted by /u/stonesandstreams
