For context, I’m currently in med school, and we know that med school is very tough and difficult. I have this newly formed “friend” group; we’re just 4 guys, but ever since med school started, there’s this one other guy who seems to be talking so much about himself, how he’ll ace med school, and that he’ll graduate without getting kicked out (since our school is notoriously known for kicking out students, especially in first and second year). Recently, I’ve noticed that the behavior he exuded initially when we all first met changed drastically towards the past months. I noticed specifically how he hated people in our class and how he treated me. To be honest, I don’t know how to really respond to demeaning jokes towards me and I get that some people have that type of humor, but it just gets to my nerves because I noticed that he mostly does it to me. I don’t know how to respond, especially since they’re the only friend group I really have and they’re the people I usually hang out with a lot. I tried talking less to him and talking more towards my other friends, who I clearly feel more comfortable with, but even then, he still makes those comments, which lowkey irritates me already and I see it as disrespectful (I think a part of it would also be the fact that I’m not the smartest in the friend group and he sees himself as the “smartest”). Let me know your honest opinions and what I should do? submitted by /u/Exciting_Lab_8743
