Sundar Pichai just announced Gemini 4 Argon as Google’s next model. He says it’s hitting frontier-level results on complex workflows, cyber defense, and software engineering, and Google teams are already using it internally for coding and quantum computing. The benchmark chart has Argon on top in Vals Index (68.9%), AutomationBench (51.3%), DeepSWE (77.9%), Vibe Code Bench (91.9%), LABBench 2 (88.8%), and long-context GraphWalks. It lags in a few spots, including FrontierSWE v2. In a follow-up post, he also made a point of saying Argon ships with built-in safeguards, and the first rollout is tightly controlled. It’s going to the U.S. government and a small group of trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program, after the White House Accord on Super Intelligence they just signed. submitted by /u/dumpshoot
