I’m 23 and I’ve gotten very used to being alone. I genuinely enjoy having my own space and sometimes prefer to disconnect from people for a while. I’m currently getting to know a girl from university. We’ve gone out several times and there seems to be some interest, but some of her behavior and periods of silence have made me question whether I actually want to get involved. I’m not interested in anything casual. If I get into a relationship, I want a partner someone to build a serious, long-term relationship with. The confusing part is that I want that, but I also really value my independence. Sometimes I wonder if I’d eventually miss being single once I had a girlfriend. My best friend has had several bad experiences with rejection, while I’ve had very few romantic experiences at all. We’ve ended up developing completely different perspectives on relationships. For men who genuinely enjoy being alone, did getting into a serious relationship change how you felt about your independence? submitted by /u/Common-Medicine8371
