By overextending, I mean spending money you couldn’t comfortably spare, constantly helping with problems, or putting your own needs aside because you really wanted things to work out. I’m 22, and I’m recognizing this pattern in myself. Giving comes naturally when I care about someone, but sometimes I keep doing more even when I don’t feel appreciated. Having a long history with that person makes it harder to separate the connection we actually have from what I hope it could become. For men who have been through this, what helped you set limits and stick to them? What does showing interest without overextending yourself look like for you now? submitted by /u/sloadingzzz
