Men this ones for you. As we all know, with age, health, lifestyle and various other elements in life, our bodies change. I’m getting close to 30, which I know is still relatively young. My body is so different to how it used to be. Up until an accident in 2024, my body was super fit. Gym 3 times a week, football and tennis in the week too. My body was looking and feeling great. However, that all changed dramatically. I destroyed part of my spine and went through almost 2 years of basically doing nothing until I had eventual surgery. In that time, I gained weight, lost muscle mass and overall feel like shit. I’ve started exercise again, safely this time which I’m really proud of but, I’m feeling shitty about my body. I’ve gained lots of fat and lost a lot of strength. Which I understand is part of the process and I’m sure I can work it off but, it’s making me feel shite. Part of gaining weight unfortunately has amplified scars under my pec that I got while I had cancer treatment as child, and that makes me really insecure and feel like I’m failing myself somehow or thay other people would judge it, I know that’s irrational but it’s linked to trauma / cancer and it brings back painful memories everytime I see it. So my question is, how do you guys deal with body image issues? I never hear it talked about amongst other men really so I don’t have anyone to talk to about this. How do you learn to like the way you look? How do you learn to accept circumstance? Lastly, how do you give yourself credit for what you’ve survived? Any ideas of thoughts are welcome. Thanks guys. submitted by /u/Version2dnb
