Hello gentlemen. I wanted to ask you how you handle negative comments about your appearance as a kid and what works to get them to stop and what can I do to teach my son not let others comments not bother him so much. My middle son (age 12) has always been shorter than most of his classmates and peers and it REALLY bothers him. He says he asks them to stop but they don’t listen. When people meet my kids for the first time sometimes they ask if he and my 10 yr old are twins because they are close to the same height. From what he says it doesn’t sound like he’s getting teased about it just that people comment on his small size weekly if not daily. He hates it and he’s at the point where a comment about his size will ruin his day. Or if he sees a picture of himself with friends or classmates and he sees the size difference and gets upset. He’s an introvert and already seems to be an overthinker and tends towards anxiety. He’s an amazing kid, active and athletic, he’s a great soccer player, really smart, he gets mostly A’s, he’s really good at math and science and has other hobbies and interests, but he’s letting his height define him and says he’s miserable. His pediatrician is not worried because our family is not tall. I’m 5’4 and my dad and brothers are between 5"6-5’9 and his dad is 5’7 but his brothers are all around 6ft. My other two boys have been on the shorter side in their grades as well. Any advice appreciated. Thank you. submitted by /u/Agreeable-Fun-1008
