(Also edited some punctation and moved a sentence up, for clarity, while I am at it.) Hello, I am having some doubts about someone’s profile but I need help in figuring out if it’s showing signs of a scam or if I’m just way too suspicious. Normally if I’m too distrustful I’d just let it go, but since it’s a gift for my partner and I need it soon, I’m asking for opinions. I found a handheld for an acceptable price on Ricardo. Not a huge deal but a nice price at which I have gotten other consoles before. I was debating giving identifying infos but I think if the person finds this post it can be more of a funny anecdote I hope. Of course, not sharing any of their information. It’s a used PS Vita 2000 with the charging cable, 2 SD adapters with two SD cards of 129GO, an official Sony card and a physical game. The console is pre-modded, which I don’t like, but it’s a good enough price that I don’t mind. The price for it was 140 CHF . In the description it said it could be shipped if asked, but the “shipping” option that is usually on Ricardo wasn’t there. It was pickup only. After some hesitation, I decided to purchase it , but asked if I could come pick it up to see if the person would invent excuses. They didn’t, they said they’d give their address once we’d agree on a meetup time. As it’s too expensive for me to go there, I asked about shipping, since they offered on their post. They accepted, and said they’d make me pay 5.-, and cover the rest. Which could just be a very nice gesture or a way to further entice me (I’d feel awful if it’s just a nice person and I’m that suspicious.) They asked if I prefered bank transfer or TWINT. I said TWINT but I realise now that if I said bank transfer maybe I’d have their informations in case it’s a scam. Not sure that it’d help. I am now having second thoughts and wondering if I’m about to send 145CHF into the void and be out of a gift and money for my partner. Here are my red flags : Not enabling the usual shipping option (maybe it’s to save us both money, but with that I cannot do it all through the normal Ricardo process). Their profile has no reviews but 4 sales. When I asked about it, they told me they sold most things on Tutti. I looked it up myself, and it says their profile there has only been active since the 23.09.2026. To their credit, I do not see the Vita on their profile on Tutti but I still see all the other things they’re selling. That makes me believe that they’re a legit seller, otherwise they could also list it there to scam more people. (I do not know how Tutti works, maybe it’s just linked to Ricardo which is why it doesn’t show.) Saying they usually sell on Tutti but their account is seemingly brand new. Here are my green flags : All the photos, including of other things they’re selling, are taken in the same room. I’ve reversed searched them and nothing comes up. So it seems the images are theirs. They are ID and phone number verified. I don’t know if that means in case of issues I’d be able to get my money back though. Here are some extra infos : They answer fairly quickly to all my messages. The longest I’ve had to wait was 29 minutes. The rest whether midnight or afternoon they’d either reply instantly or within about 5-10 minutes. Again, this could simply be someone that have notifications enabled and a similar sleeping pattern as I do. I tried to look for their social media since I have their name, but I didn’t find anything. I think the name they have/ gave me is very common. What do you think I should do? Are there questions I can ask that could guarantee I’m not being swindled? Would you go through with this purchase? If you are the seller, I hope I don’t come off as too much of a psycho, I just haven’t been successfully scammed before so I hope it doesn’t happen now. TL;DR : I’m suspicious about a purchase I’m about to make on Ricardo. The offer isn’t crazy enough that it’s an obvious scam, but nice enough that I’d be sad to let it go since it’s for a gift coming up. There aren’t CRAZY redflags but since their profile doesn’t have reviews I’m overthinking the whole thing and asking for opinions. submitted by /u/Alicexkawaii
