I(18M) developed strong feelings for a girl(21F) I met at university and became very attached to her. She made it clear that she saw me as a friend, and at one point she said she saw me like a little brother. Honestly, I didn’t take that well at all. I had genuine romantic feelings for her, and when I heard that, I went home and cried because it hurt knowing that she didn’t see me the same way. Even after that, I still cared about her and continued putting effort into the friendship—texting her, checking in, wanting to spend time together, and even getting her a small gift. Over time, though, I noticed I was usually the one initiating conversations. She often took days or weeks to reply, and she says she’s just bad at reaching out. Eventually, it started making me feel like I was the only one trying to keep the connection alive. We haven’t properly talked in about a month, and she hasn’t reached out either. I recently deleted her contact and I’m trying to go no-contact, but I still miss her and sometimes really want to text her. I’m asking for advice because I don’t know whether distancing myself is the right thing to do, or whether I’m giving up on someone I genuinely care about. submitted by /u/svkmrr
