I am implementing AI across an SME. Realistically that means mass automation, heavy use of copilot/claws by everyone. The interviews are first. The people have their opinions of AI. You see it in their face from the beginning. The fearful. The ‘it can’t touch me’. Those that are excited. The change when yes we could do X and Y that that’ll remove that manual step. The excited ones going ‘oh… oh really’. The concerned ones, ‘what do you hate doing the most? - oh that? hmmm. We can fix that.’ , ‘oh? oh really?!’. It goes both ways and its a fine line to tread at all stages. Progress has to move forward, the responsibility of the role is to bring everyone along with it. When I interviewed I laid it out directly - have you considered the impact? anything we do, we have to look at the benefit, and the cost. That was taken on board. Unlike another company where it either flew over their heads. This role can be the most hated person in the org. It isn’t that automation can happen, it is the Speed and Scale of it that is the shock, how unpreprared most are. I can be giddy at the plan and its efficiencies of turning processes manual into automatic. But I also have to be respectful and start them all thinking about what Next. Its not just technical. eyes closed for me. its the psychological aspect. ive’ run teams, mentored, brought through change - legacy digital transformation - which isn’t identity destructive. its this part thats going to be the hardest. yet, if can be done well, meaning accepted and positively altering, that’s a better outcome and experience. submitted by /u/Lower-Impression-121
