I’ve been with my partner for 9 months, we have been through SO MUCH in that 9 months. His dog of 14 years died and a month later his best friend was murdered by the police, my dad died & 3 other close family members of mine passed away & my uncle was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer as well. We both have dealt with so much and I’ve been doing my best to uplift him. He’s not where he wants to be financially and a lot of it is outside factors. Hes a music producer and one of his labels is delaying payments so he hasn’t gotten his money and I try being supportive. I recently helped lift a load off his shoulders so he wouldn’t have to worry about the finance part but he’s still frustrated because he doesn’t like relying on people. Hes had tons of ppl in the Industry take advantage of him and now hes focusing on himself but while doing so hes dealing with label bs and issues like that. I help where I can and honestly we’re both the type of people who don’t like asking for help so I will reassure him it’s ok to do so and he accepts the help I can give. Everyday something new happens and it literally feels like he has the worst luck. I feel bad and sometimes I don’t know the words to say. I always offer support and do what I can. I know it’s difficult for men to go through these issues especially while in a relationship because they may feel emasculated but I don’t view my partner that way. I love him and I know life always gets the best of us; I honestly hate seeing him stress and all the bad things that keep happening to him. I feel like I say things to reassure him but shit keeps happening and idk how to cheer him up . I try offering to take him out to lift his spirits but he feels guilty and I also surprise him with lil snacks or small gifts. I feel like I’m trying everything but I’d love to hear a man’s advice submitted by /u/dwn2mrzgrl
