AI is creating a lot of fake content. Fake content existed with the start of the internet, but AI is making it harder to distinguish between fact and ficntion. We need capable people in charge of providing reliable information, such as professional journalists. A big concern is about false news and false information used for social engineering, to control people’s behaviour and drive them to act in a way that suits those behind the controls. While these fake content already exists, AI can make the fake more believable. While social media platforms are already working to tag AI content, error and misjudgement is possible, so there is a need for a better verification process. In professional journalism, content is tethered to personnel who can be held accountable, an incentive to be trustworthy or risk retribution or punishments. A professional journalist undergoes a process of maintaining accuracy and fact. Fact is separated from fiction under the scrutiny of the journalist and the forces which demand objective output. These forces could include public pressure, socialist government and non-profit initiatives. On the flip side, journalism is not necessarily reliable anyway, there are newspapers and journals which produce biased material and agenda content. News sources which social engineer and use it for private gain and profit, political influence etc. False information used to make people vote a certain way, buy things, behave against scientific research, etc. submitted by /u/Cultural_Shake4690
