Looking to hear some ideas! Specific personal strategies or rules, what does/does not work for you. When I’m interested in or motivated by stuff, I’ll throw myself into it pretty hard - not quite hyperfixating, but pretty comparable. Especially as I’m getting older (37), I’m finding that I’m doing this with my work (I’m an analyst), to the point that I am WIPED when I finish the day. There’s hobbies I want to get into (like writing and photography), projects I want to run at (home stuff, volunteering), and subjects I want to self-study. But none of it happens because I’m having trouble holding back at work. Anyone else struggle with this? Anyone find some effective strats? I’ve tried timers to remind myself to take a break, but that doesnt seem to be cutting it. submitted by /u/Four_dozen_eggs8708
