hi, my mom (reitred) encountered seizures (TIA) and had to be transportet - by helicopter - to hospital (including a transfer to another one after she was stabilised). the costs gonna be VERY high and - of course - health insurance only covers 50% (she does not have a “Zusatzversicherung”) while i know there’s nothing for “transports past”, question now is for any (hopefully never occuring) future situations: is there a solution out there taking care of transportcosts not taken over by health-insurance => and does not exclude transports due to preexisting conditions? (bc what if she encounters another TIA and again needs an medevac) i read about sos144, but they exclude transports for preexisting conditions (so does the TCS Schutzbrief, and all “Zusatzversicherungen”)… Rega can but doesn’t have to forfait on costs, but only if the transport was done by rega (mom for eg was transported with Alpine Air Ambulance)… Is there a possible alternative? Or is essentially, due to the preexisting condition, “all a lost cause”? submitted by /u/fog_hornist
