I have a guy friend who clearly doesn’t vibe with me much when we hang out, but hangs out with me anyways because he knows I’m bored/can use getting out of my house more. When we hang out, most of the time he’s just throwing jabs at me about how boring I am to be around with. He says, “if we have no topics to talk about, then we’ll just make memories”. And I used to blame myself for that, but noticed that whenever I do try to make conversations, he’ll respond with “ok.” “sure bro”, or something blunt that makes me not want to talk to him. If I say something sarcastic, he’ll take it seriously. He’s a horrible responder too. I can talk my other friend’s ears off, and talk to them for hours, but with him, I can’t even make a 10 minute conversation. How do you deal with a guy friend who only hangs out with you because he knows you need it, but doesn’t seem to genuinely enjoy your presence?
