Preface this is that I’ve been married 7 years, have 2 children and financial stability. I unfortunately suffer from mental health issues (BPD, major depression, anxiety, PTSD, sleep issues. Yanno the usual) along with several physical problems (just had my second hip surgery and in the hopeful near future going to do my lumbar, cervical and bilateral shoulder surgeries). Reason I stated this is that I’m on a lot of medication to help solve / relive my issues bc I have a lot of issues from child hood and my time in the military. Ask me whatever if you need clarification but I don’t want this to seem like a pitty party. Recently my wife and her therapist have come to the conclusion that she has taken on the more masculine role in the relationship for several years and just feels burnt out. I don’t realize it because I’ve been doing what I would expect and family man to do. Financially providing for the family, helping around the house with project and even some days to day chores. Raising the kids and being present for them. Unfortunately I do have a wildly unstable mental health some day. Constant suicidal ideation, and motivation issues but I do my best to not let that toll on the family. Even tho sometimes I do have to breakdown to my wife bc there are days it’s too much. Been getting treated for a decade and am in DBT therapy so I’m already getting treatment for that. Just with our dynamic it feel very certain that she doesn’t view me as masculine or often times a man. The last 10 months have been very hard on our marriage which makes my issues with mental health worse. I’m just not sure what to do maybe I need to recess myself from her with opening up because it’s causing too much grief. Any advise is appreciated. Sorry that this was all over the place. submitted by /u/Virusparid0x
