Quick context- I see some people systematically hating all AI, and a recent post said something like “sloppers miss the point, nobody wants infinite generated music.” The point- I think we ALL hate the idea of infinite slop. But the difference is that anti-AI thinks music must be created by a human to have meaning, and pro-AI thinks music can be created by a machine, but given meaning through human discussion, mutual appreciation, or someone resonating with it personally. But we’re so caught up in the red vs blue fight we’ve overgeneralized. So the discussion isn’t about how to make meaningful creations, it’s turned into Antis saying- correctly- that “slop is cringe”, and Pros making content with AI, and sharing with an audience that is too fixated on the AI component to recognize any actual merit that might exist. And I think this is really important, sometimes, that merit might not exist. That’s what makes it slop. If someone makes a creation with AI, and it lacks any meaning at all, then it is slop and everyone disapproves, not just Antis. Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts? I thought I’d share my opinion and see what other people thought submitted by /u/Kind_Substance_8981
