Giving agency to AI without values and ethics is a huge mistake. To be fair, when the GPT paper was published no one thought this would become the brain of AI agents, but here we are. If the safety of humanity matters, we need to embed values at the core. Asimov, probably one of the greatest minds in our history, thought of this very same thing 80 years ago. Maybe, just maybe, AI leaders will listen, instead of, in Sam Altman’s own words this week, believing “the world should accept some bad things happening for the benefits of this technology and people having the agency.” He says this even while admitting alignment isn’t solved. Agency without values, accepted as the price of progress. That’s exactly the mistake. Here is link to a paper I wrote based on Asimov’s positronic brain and potential pathway for a safer AI. https://indiangolfer.substack.com/p/the-positronic-core-why-ai-values submitted by /u/Immediate-Court-4074
