I made Spinlings, a free, open-source creature game that runs inside Claude Code. Pixel creatures battle above the prompt while Claude works; you can collect a three-creature team, trade cards and duel another player’s saved team. The original game was built with Claude, and Codex helped with later UI and testing iterations. The useful part of the implementation was keeping creature generation and battle rules in one TypeScript engine, shared by offline play and the online server. The mod uses TSX views for the band above the prompt and the collection pane. The online world runs on a Cloudflare Worker with D1 for collections, trades and duels. Battles use saved teams, so players don’t have to be online together. The later UI work exposed a small but annoying Desktop bug: a card’s text opened its details, but its artwork didn’t. Repairing those click targets, checking narrow panes and keeping battle input optional mattered more than adding another game feature. Your team fights by itself; the timed special action is there when you want it, without requiring you to watch every round. It requires Claude Code 2.1.287+. The game makes no AI calls and never reads your prompts, replies or project files. Online play sends game actions and a coarse model family to the game server; offline play uses a separate local save with no requests.
