So I’ve profited 100s of mils antipking in the wilderness, I have 28 LMS wins, and I’ve survived literally hundreds of tank tests in the wildy since the first year OSRS came out. And literally 4/5 tutorials add bizarre frustrations even for someone who sometimes throws on a DH set for fun for the last 15 years. The Prayer Protection challenge your opponent doesn’t have an attack delay. This one isn’t that bad since people are used to switching their prayers for things like Nightmare. The Power of Freezes tutorial has you attempting to freeze-log two PKers at once. I don’t think I’ve ever done this in my life. If you’re in multi you’re not sticking around and trying to get freeze RNG on two people at the same time, when they could easily call in more people. It’s also a pain in the ass to deal with two bowfas while you attempt to hide behind a 1x1 tree in an environment you’ve never been in before and don’t know the line of sights. The freeze-log tutorial should have been against one enemy. The Gear Switching tutorial requires you to switch all pieces of your armour in order to land a hit. But that’s not realistic at all because in real PKing you’ll simply have your tank gear of a range top and melee legs, and then your magic switch. The challenge penalizes you and resets if you whip with your dhide on even though that doesn’t affect you at all, and is even optimal if your opponent is in mage gear. It’s another one where you have to attack much faster than your normal attack delay. The Combo Eating tutorial is bizarre. There’s no reason for some mage to randomly freeze you 2 ticks before you get AGS-gmauled because NPCs have had the ability to run for a long time. And then the game forces you to combo eat a double spec by two enemies at once who just appear out of thin air? Why? The game should teach you an element of predicting and reacting to a realistic spec scenario, like someone AGS-speccing after a high magic shortbow hit and after pot-tricking. Especially after the PID swaps to their favor. The game could have forced the players HP to a lower threshold until the special attack so you can’t just cheese it. The brews should have been 4 doses in this tutorial because having to combo eat 10 times is a giant pain of inventory management. If I didn’t know any better I would assume the wilderness has all kinds of BS that it doesn’t have. People can’t 1 tick spec you after logging in without a cheat client. You don’t need to make a million switches just to attack with melee and ranged. Special attacks aren’t entirely random. And you’ll never actually have to freeze log 2 PKers at once unless you’re in some crazy Deadman mode scenario. It’s also missing some vital information like PID. They’re forcing you to learn the same 1 tick window for triple eating, but that window has two different timings depending on who has PID. Its one of the most important mechanics in the wilderness because it informs you when your opponent will likely spec and when you should spec. Some more mechanics like venge timing and pot tricks should have been included too. submitted by /u/WaveDashSpeedKick
