What is the real reason there are no DIY auto parts shops here? Almost every other country has auto parts shops for DIY but here in Switzerland it doesn’t exist. I grew up working on cars repairing and restoring vintage cars ect. So I find it a fun thing to do not a money saving issue. Is it a trust issue or do the millions of garages here enforce a ban on auto parts shops opening so they can control what people need / want and maintain a profit? What if you like a specific quality of air filter or brake pads ect? The garage puts in whatever they want and upcharge an arm and a leg. Sure some people can’t do DIY but what about those who can and enjoy doing so? submitted by /u/Apiary8
