I essentially somehow kept Claude Pro for free for a year after cancelling. So last year I originally bought Pro on my Gmail account and paid through Apple. Then I noticed that signing in with Apple opened a separate Claude account, but that one had Pro too. I was using private relay for the Apple login, so it had one of those random Apple email addresses, but I’m not sure if that was part of the glitch. While I was paying, both accounts had their own usage limits. I could just switch accounts when I hit the limit on one, so I was basically getting twice the usage from one subscription. Eventually I cancelled the subscription on my Gmail account, but the Apple account kept Pro. Claude said I was subscribed through iOS, but when I checked my Apple subscriptions, there was nothing active for Claude. It stayed like that for about a year, and I kept using it without paying. I thought maybe something got mixed up because my Apple ID was tied to my Gmail. But the Apple login was using a different relay email, so I honestly don’t know how the accounts ended up connected or why cancelling only affected one of them. The Apple account just went back to free, which is why I’m posting now. I’m guessing they fixed whatever caused it. Did anyone else have this happen? I kept quiet about it the whole year.
