tl:dr: I’m a 26M and hear this notion repeated over and over and over again online. But the opposite is true from nearly all the personal experiences I have. I need a strong emotional connection, otherwise I feel gross hooking up with random women. Most my friends who are single are almost all purely looking for LTRs (probably to their own detriment due to their lack of relationship experience). One guy who could be considered a playboy of sorts, told me verbatim it takes him 5 or more dates before he’ll even kiss a girl. Most my friends in LTRs have been seeing each other for years, and if they haven’t been married, they’re busy with higher education or work. I see profiles from some old high school acquaintances that never even went to college, and a lot of them are married too (very early, like 23-24 so they’ve been seeing each other right out of high school). It seems up and down the socioeconomic ladder, most men are (in my small bit of experience) not these roving sex fiends ready to pump and dump random women. Rather, it seems like a lot of men now have developed standards that are unrealistically high, which is a whole other problem. The few people I do know who are ready to bang at a moment’s notice have some deep issues going on, which is a far cry from most men. submitted by /u/PigeonPulverizer
