I’m building a side project (backend, website and mobile app) mostly with Claude Code, and today I moved from Max 5x ($100) to Max 20x ($200). Before upgrading I checked my last 30 days:
- Used it on 23 of 30 days, about 190 hours with activity
- Mostly Opus 5.5, some Fable 5.1, a little Sonnet and Haiku for subagents
- At API prices that’s at least $1,900 of tokens, and that’s a low estimate because it leaves out output and thinking tokens
- Hit the 5-hour session limit 5 times, never the weekly limit The limit hits always came at the same moments: when I ran many subagents in parallel, like building a big feature across three repos at once, or running model tests. Normal one-session work never hit it. So $100 was enough for daily work, but not for the heavy days. I’ll report back after a few weeks on 20x. 20x users: do you still hit limits? Was the jump from $100 to $200 worth it for you? submitted by /u/emarkosov
