I started an investigation project on Claude windows to look into upgrading two VS 2022 Winforms .Net 4.8 Framework projects to 2026. I then asked it to consider a complete rebuild of a backup utility in .Net 10. That went fantastic. I then asked it to start investigating a complete rebuild of a medium sized custom business management application. I did use good prompts. I asked for preliminary analysis documents. Did critical review in another session. Asked for a detailed implementation plan. I read all generated documents and made corrections. I told it to use Software Engineering best practices, appropriate design patterns, and focus on maintainability and solid error handling. I am halfway through though the rebuild and Claude create a new DAL (LingQ-SQL to a modern approach) and has implemented half the data entry and search forms, with almost zero errors. The rebuild of the backup utility took less than 8 hours of my time, and added a lot of functionality. The rebuild of the business management application has so far taken about 6 hours. This was all done without a CLAUDE.md file or any skills. I have been astounded at how good Claude has become!! This was using Claude CLI on Windows, running through Powershell, Opus 5.5 and the latest version as of 10/8/2026. I am not sure how much of my slow roll from investigation of an upgrade, to an possible rebuild, then actually rebuilding the Backup utility helped. It was all done in the same project, so it had past session memory to look at. Regardless, the results are fantastic. I am impressed. submitted by /u/HummingbirdAya
