So I’ve never really been a going out person. However the newish job (6 months ago) I started I work with my sister, my sisters good friend and my sisters friends romantic friend (can’t use the other word lmao). And we all get on really well. And I’ve got quite close to my sisters friend romantic friend (I’ll call him Fred). I’ve been introduced to their friend group over the last few months. And 9 of us went on holiday. And I get on with them really well. Knowing them has led me to go out much more in my home town which I never used to do (I only really started going out because of uni as my home town friends weren’t those type of people. So again I’m sort of meeting everyone they know and most of them especially Fred, who I get on especially well with, knows a lot of them really well because he went to school with them or they were in the same year as them. So I sometimes I feel a bit out of place. Like they have all known each other for years and years. So it’s like super effortless for them to talk to each other. And naturally when you go out there’s loads of music and it’s mostly dancing but I’m talking about walking to a new bar, or if you sat at a pub instead of a club/place with load music. Basically the quieter down time or even at a club and people are chatting. I just feel super out of place. Because I’m hovering around the people I know because it’s comfortable. But I just don’t really know how to like talk to other people. I guess last night I feel extra shitty about it because I was sober as I just came from work and everyone else was drunk and tbf if I was drunk I’d probably be chatting to them more. But I don’t want to be social when just drunk. I naturally am reserved with people I don’t know and I do have social anxiety and just feel like I struggle to come up with things to say to people in general but also with new people.
