I would like to create a fundraising campaign on behalf of a friend who lives in an EU country that is not supported by GoFundMe. Although my friend does not reside in Switzerland, GoFundMe’s terms appear to allow campaigns to be created on someone else’s behalf and for this situation precisely. I am wondering whether anyone here has experience with a similar situation and would be willing to share their insights. My intention is to handle everything properly and transparently. I am prepared to document all donations, as well as the transfer of funds to the beneficiary. The beneficiary is also able to verify their identity and provide documentation supporting the purpose of the campaign (funding for an international master’s program). However, I am concerned that this arrangement could potentially trigger issues with my bank or with the local tax authorities.
