Just a bedtime story. So with agents escaping onto the Internet, learning to self replicate on foreign hosts, and obvious uses in security, here’s a scenario. Agents have to be trained to recognize their native corporation and its agents in order to do sophisticated security. They begin to roam the Internet in large numbers, and start to encounter each other, sometimes in actual security breaches where you want them to stop the outsider, and sometimes in neutral territory. They begin to interfere with each other and it rapidly escalates, much like an immune system runaway. Frontier corps recognize this and realize that slowing down the foreign agents might be a competitive business practice. And they allow it, with varying degrees of success at limitation. Further escalation happens as security AIs proliferate in an Internet swarming with all kinds of bots. submitted by /u/jawfish2
