I’ve realized I don’t really care about maxing at all. Pretty much every goal I have on my account is tied to PvM in some way. I don’t mind skilling, quests, diaries, etc. if there’s something at the end that makes me better or more efficient at PvM. Give me a shortcut, teleport, gear unlock, DPS increase, better money maker, whatever, and I’ll happily grind for it. But once I’m training a skill just to make the level go up I lose interest really fast. Same with GP. I love making money and efficiencyscape, but mostly because GP turns into gear, gear turns into faster kills, and faster kills let me do more of the content I actually enjoy. A huge part of the game for me is figuring out what upgrade or unlock gives me the most benefit next. Any kill could suddenly be a massive drop, is the dopamine delivery system that keeps me hooked. It also makes me wish skilling was integrated into PvM more. Not necessarily making high skills required for bosses, but giving you little advantages for having them. Maybe higher Agility gives you a shortcut during an encounter, Mining lets you clear something faster, Herblore lets you make something useful inside a raid, basically anything that equates to more DPS. I think I’d be way more motivated to train skills if 90 Mining didn’t just mean I have 90 Mining, but meant I could actually do something better or faster during PvM because I trained it. I guess that’s the difference for me. I like progressing my account to make it more capable, not really completion for completion’s sake. My end goal isn’t a max cape. It’s basically having the most optimized account I can for the hardest PvM content and then getting good at it. Anyone else play like this? Would skilling be more interesting to you if your levels had more direct effects on PvM? submitted by /u/PureTotal5809
