I recently had a pretty strange experience with taking my old, 2001 car to a normal service + get the MFK done. I requested the usual oil change, brake fluids and gearbox oil change. When I picked up the car, the guy just said everything is done and he’ll email the invoice later. Once I got it, I was first of all shocked a bit with the amount, 1750chf for oilservice and MFK. They charged silly things like 70chf for wiper blades, 180chf for spark plugs. Those are like 3-4x prices compared to normal spares stores, even with Swiss prices. And they didn’t change brake fluid, which was close to 3 years old. There were other issues as well but I think the brake fluid is a safety concern. When I addressed the issues over email, the reply was simply, pay up or Betreibung. Is this normal in Switzerland? And since I didn’t really want to deal with the collections process I just paid it and moved on. Like besides google reviews, is there any instances that deal with B2C disputes or give some guidelines as to what is considered acceptable? I’ve had my car for quite a while, and I’ve had it serviced at different places, different countries on road trips. Never had any major issues. I’m sure there are bad and good apples everywhere but what is the Swiss norm? I’m not even so mad about the price, but the service itself, high price is okay if you get something in return. This time it just felt like getting fleeced. submitted by /u/Mapsa2
