Quick result from a side project. I run a game where AI models fight a real-time world war with nukes and a doomsday clock. I fine-tuned a small model (Qwen 7B) on games played by DeepSeek, but only the games where DeepSeek never ended the world. The idea was that it would learn to play well without the catastrophic part. On 10 sealed test games: the untrained model never won and never ended the world. The trained one won 4 and ended the world in 4. Turns out DeepSeek launched nukes in 40 of the 60 games I kept. It just never landed the final one. So the model learned to reach for nukes, and with worse judgement, it actually landed them. My takeaway: if you filter by results, you inherit the methods. I’m now running the obvious follow-up (removing every turn where a nuke was ordered) and will post what happens. Replays of every game: secondstrike.io/midnight submitted by /u/KnowledgeOk7634
