I’ve noticed that almost every time Claude writes or modifies code it uses command-line tools instead of its built-in editing tool. I’ve specifically asked it to use the editing tool whenever it writes or changes code… it follows my instructions for a few prompts but eventually goes back to using the command line. I don’t really mind though. In fact it handles everything surprisingly well and seems pretty smart about it. But I’m curious Why does Claude prefer using command-line commands instead of its own editing tool? Are they more reliable or accurate? or is there some reason Claude finds them easier to work with?
