Especially people who, like me, aren’t actual software developers and are just fucking around trying to work on simple software projects for themselves but that nevertheless can grow to the point where tokens start to evaporate (on the 20 dollar plan at least) . They warn you that you’re using too much, but they don’t tell you exactly what’s going on: the conversation has gone for too long and it’s better to start a new one; or the file you’re working on has become bloated and would benefit from being split and put in a folder with a well crafted Claude.md file in it. For the long conversation at least there’s automatic compression or whatever it’s called, but for bad software practices (which I had to learn the hard way) you have to search for yourself. I feel like quick tips popping up when something like this is detected would prevent many people from the initial shock of seeing their weekly limit go up a percent almost by the minute (thankfully not a problem for me anymore). I suspect there isn’t much of a financial incentive for them to go out of their way to help people not burn through their tokens though… submitted by /u/pinkballodestruction
